So its been busy, really busy. And, bad.. Real Bad... Michael Jackson. I had to take a step back, yep i said it: a step BACK instead of two steps forward. I wont explain all the stuff ive been through over the past two weeks..most of you know anyway however I will explain what I've taken from it and hopefully motivate you all...
Ill tell you of a story that was told to my congregation.
There was a little boy and a dad driving from Memphis to Chicago in the middle of the winter (how ironic?). They were in the middle of a blizzard and an ice storm. Snow was coming down pretty hard so the little boy asked "Dad, why dont we stop on the side of the road until this blizzard is over?" Dad said, "Nah son lets just keep on going, we'll make it home in no time." They keep traveling. They get through Missouri and things are looking bad...real bad. Its snowing so hard that they cant see through the windshield. Son jumps up from the seat and says "Dad, look at all the other cars, they've stopped-- we need to stop too-- we cant even see through the windshield" He was right, cars had stopped on the side of the road which is pretty logical especially in the midst of a storm. They'd already passed a couple of accidents and the radio station said that this was the worse blizzard since '69. Dad said "Look, I got this, just relax". They keep going until they get to lower Illinois - 4 hours more to go. This time cars are slipping and sliding and all down the highway cars are stopped and cant move. The dad loses control of the wheel and starts sliding on the road too. The dad gains control of the car again but the son gets really scared, he says "Dad, seriously! I think we need to stop, this is scary and we may not make it!" The Dad says "Son, stop worrying about it, we'll get there calm down!" The son goes to sleep. As he's sleeping they make it through to Champaign, Il-- things start to clear up. Snow dwindles and some ice melts. They keep on pushing. They get to Joliet, IL and its a little foggy and clouds are dark. They keep on pushing. Son wakes up and looks around. Their on the Chicago highway-- he say's "Dad! We're here, how on earth did we make it?!" Dad said " Son, look in the rearview mirror" The son looks in the rear view mirror-- behind them cars are still parked on the side of the road trying to start up their engines and skies are still dark and cloudy "He looks out of the front windshield and sees the just opposite: sunny, clear skies. Dad looks at him and says "If we had stop back there, look where we would have been, and look where we are now." They were at home, creeping up to the driveway.
Things can get really bad out here. Times are hard-- your financial situation may not be right. Your work environment may run a tole on you. Your relationships may get rough. There may be deaths in the family. You may be tired..you may be sick....you may be both. But dont....ever...never....stop pushing. Everything may seem like its the worst thing since '29 (at least that what the economist tell us)--- like its never been this bad before but if you continue to push through the hard times and the troubles of everyday life, you'll get to you end goal. There is nothing new under the sun. Our parents went through rough times; so did our grandparents and every generation before that (and went through even worse times)
Before you know it, your two years would have passed.Before you know it, there will be no more recession sooner rather than later and in fact some may argue that its over). Before you know it, your not an analyst anymore. Before you know it, school's over and you graduated and before you know it you're at the corner office suite. You'll look back and other people (maybe acquaintances or old friends) will be stuck in the same place as they were before because THEY stopped, and now they're still trying to start their engines back up, only to see that they've made strides to nothingness and nowhere.
If we can all remember to PUSH and not stop and focus on the BIG picture, I think we all can get through any hard time.
Lets stay positive people. I always seem to complain or focus on the problems of "now" but EVERY problem has a solution. And if you can solve the unknowns to your equation, you'll get all the answers right on the test.
Pray Until Something Happens...He'll never let you down. Look up at the sky-- your potential is limitless!
